Chrido. Already I can say my tall, dark, handsome, blue eyed baby boy.
52cm and 3.83kg at birth – a mere 6 weeks later he measures 61cm and weighs 4.9kg
I look at him and think – did I birth you? You who are so perfect, so quiet. Already showing his dads patience and flair for the dramatic. Already revealing a personality so uniquely his own.
We soon learned that he loves attention but only when he wants it – he likes to be near us but not necessarily in our arms. He prefers his space but not too much so. He loves to sleep. From birth, he falls asleep so easily without having to be rocked, begged or bribed. He loves his food, eating quickly and greedily yet not constantly and he tolerates comfort objects but are not concerned whether it is there or not.
An easier baby I could not have wished for. After a few days of settling in he quickly fell into a pattern eating every 3 – 4 hours. Sleeping through the night, only waking once for a 3 o’clock feeding and rarely crying. Initially he was not too crazy about a bath but after a week or two of getting used to it he now lies there like a little king, waiting to be bathed by his loyal subjects. Legs spread wide, tummy pushed out, glaring at us to make sure we bathe him sufficiently.
If I must be honest I could never have pictured myself as the mother of a boy – a little stinky, worm carrying, spider collecting, mud covered boy. I am more the – let’s go for a girls’ night at the local spa, paint our toe nails and eat ice cream for breakfast type of mother. But now that he is here, I could not have been happier with this little boy who is so loved by everyone in his life. I cannot wait to get to know him. To watch him grow into his own little person and see what the future holds for him.
“But I love you so much more than just to the moon and back”
